he played against a future NBA star : Michael
Finley. Cliff grew in the state of Chicago copying the style
of Harold
Baines which was playing for the Chicago White Sox. Floyd is
build like a racing car : power + speed. He turns singles into doubles
because of his speed on bases. He have the 5 tools for a great baseball
player. He bats left and he throws right. He can play first base

Today and Gatorade in 1991. During his first year, in 5 games, he

Baseball
major league - Montreal Expos :
In 1991, Floyd was draft #1 on 14 candidates
by the Montreal Expos. In his first year with the pros, he hit for
an average of 0.262 with 6 homeruns and 30 runs produced. He was
named the best player with potential in the Southern Atlantic league.
Cliff is a power hitter that reminds us of a younger Willie
McCovey and he have Willie
Mays speed. Floyd signed a contract with the Expos instead of
accepting a scholarship to go study at the university of Creighton
located at Omaha (he was 19 years old only). In his first season
being a ''rookie'', he stole 13 bases on 16 chances. Baseball America
describe Floyd as : ''one of the biggest players to play outfield!''
People compare also Floyd to Jose
Canseco and Dave
Parker. In July 1993, Cliff established a record with 21 homeruns
and 73 RBI's with Harrisburgh. He was named : ''Speedy Big Man''.
His first start with the big leagues was on September 18, 1993 and
his first homerun was on September 26 1993 against the New York

player in Expos history to hit a homerun. Gary
Carter was the youngest in 1974. In 1994, playing for the Expos,
he was 6th in the national league with the best average in critical
situations (0.373) and a average of 0.344 with players on bases
and finally an average of 0.319 against left handed pitchers. On
May 15 1995, it was the day that Floyd could have ended his short
baseball career. He got into a collision with a New York Mets player
while catching a ball at first base. It was scary to see. A big
6'4'' man collapses on his knees, that frightened me and I was really
worry for him. I think that while looking at the game on tv make
this incident even more catastrophic because I saw the game really
close on the sreen and also there was hundreds of reply of the collision.
I couldn't believe it! My big teddy bear could have finalized his
baseball career at the age of 23 years old only. He fractured his
left wrist. He broke 6 bones and there was damages to his ligament.
His wrist was also dislocated. He had 5 operations. He missed 106
games. He returned to the game on September 12 1995 against the
Philadelphia Phillies. He played the last 4 games of the 1995 season.
When he almost ended his baseball career, he was thinking of going
back to school to study at DePaul university in Ethics. (go

Baseball
major league - Florida Marlins :
On march 26 1997, Floyd was traded to the
Florida Marlins. Nooo!! I'm an Expos fan if you didn't know. I was
really sad but i'm really proud of ''My Floyd'', he spent the best
years with the Marlins. His team won the world series in 1997. However
it took two years for Floyd to be full recovered from his 1995 accident.
Cliff began the 1998 season with 4 homeruns in 5 consecutives games
during the first week of the regular season as a Fish. In 2002,
there were many rumors that Floyd would be traded to the New York
Yankees but finally this team chose Raul
Mondesi. (go up)
Baseball
major league - Montreal Expos (2002) :
Wow my "baby Floyd" returned to
play in Montreal. He wear the Expos uniform for only three weeks
but it was already unbelievable to see him back in my favorite team.
If you were at the Big O, at his first appearances at the plate,
the crowd were standing up and were encouraging him like it was
our saver! Unfortunately, he had some difficulties to produced.
Omar
Minaya traded him to the Boston Red Sox in return of Sun
Woo Kim, Seung Jun Song and another player. I think it was a
stupid decision because those players weren't ready to play for
the major league level. Minaya should have keep him for the rest
of the season but he prefered have some money in return. (go

Baseball
major league - Boston Red Sox :
He ended the 2002 season with the
Red Sox playing with Manny Ramirez, Ugueth Urbina and Pedro Martinez.
An excellent team with former Expos players. (go

Baseball major league - New York Mets :

Boston contract and he decided to signed with the Mets for 4 years
(until 2006). Meanwhile, there were rumors that he would have been
traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
